Sales Rise at Shiseido

International sales surge while domestic markets weaken.

Shiseido's sales rose more than 12% in local currency to nearly $7.5 billion for the year ended March 31, 2014. The company credited the gain to improvement in the Japanese cosmetics market, turnaround in Europe and new domestic policies by the Japanese government. Domestic sales increased 1.1% and international sales jumped 26.4%, the later helped along by strong US results for the Nars and Shiseido brands.
